Advance your career in the sports and fitness industry with this higher-level qualification. This course will give you the skills to become a qualified sports development manager or coach. According to the Australian Government’s Job Outlook Service, there is very strong future growth predicted for people working as sports coaches, instructors and officials. They predict there will be around 28,000 job openings in this large occupation over the next five years.

You will have the opportunity to study different specialisations: sports coaching, fitness, and outdoor recreation. Depending on your specialisation you may learn how to plan and deliver coaching programs, assist athletes to prevent injury or illness, plan and conduct strength and conditioning sessions, lead and manage people, and roster officials. You will also cover topics including management principles, sports psychology, sports nutrition, or group training. Our highly experienced team of industry experts will give you the one-on-one guidance and mentoring to succeed in the sports industry.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a coach or sports development manager across a diverse range of settings.

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete all core and 9 elective units from the list below.

Focus on Coaching and Focus on Surfing or Fitness – Electives
You will also be required to undertake 60 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.

Focus on Fitness – Electives
You will also be required to undertake 80 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.

Sports Academy Programs – Electives
You will also be required to undertake 120 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.

The following Selection criteria requirements apply only to International Students:

English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other – View a list of all English Language tests accepted by TAFE Queensland International
Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion. For more information on the international education achievement levels equivalent to Year 10 and 12.
Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. Completion of Year 12 or equivalent, or non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies, or currently employed in the industry. If you’re under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply.
