INFORMATION ABOUT CAMBRIDGE PRELIMINARY (PET) PREPARATION COURSE
The Cambridge English: Preliminary examination or the Preliminary English Test (PET) qualification shows that you have mastered the basics of English and now have practical language skills for everyday use.
PET is suitable for students with CEFR level – B1 (Intermediate level).
It is a computer or paper-based test consisting of three papers (Reading, Listening and Speaking) and takes about 2 hours 20 minutes.
There are three Cambridge terms each year with examinations in March, June and December.

Scots English College’s Cambridge Preliminary (PET) Preparation Course prepares students who wish to sit the Cambridge Preliminary English Test.
Levels: PET, FCE and CAE
Duration: 12 weeks per level
Full-time: 20 hours per week
Cambridge English (also known as ESOL) is a department of Cambridge University, London. Cambridge English has been providing English language assessments and qualifications for over 100 years.

- Cambridge examinations open doors to higher education, improve employment opportunities and increase choice for study or work.
- Many Cambridge English exams are also accepted for visa and study purposes in the UK, Australia, USA and Canada.
Scots English College offers three Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses:
- Cambridge Preliminary (PET) Preparation Course
- Cambridge First (FCE) Preparation Course
- Cambridge Advanced (CAE) Preparation Course
Students may choose to complete one, two or all three levels of the Cambridge Examination Preparation Course. For example, a student who wishes to take the Cambridge First Certificate in English may decide to complete the Cambridge Preliminary (PET) Preparation Course before taking the Cambridge First (FCE) Preparation Course.
During the course, students will:
- Learn about the structure of the Cambridge test
- Learn what the examiner is looking for
- Learn useful examination tips from experienced teachers
- Complete practice Cambridge tests
- Learn strategies to manage your time and answer questions under pressure
- Focus on your language skills that need most work to help you get the score you need in the Cambridge examination

Cambridge Preliminary (PET) Preparation Course | B1 |
The Cambridge English: First examination, also known as the First Certificate in English (FCE), proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English.
FCE is suitable for students with CEFR level – B2 (Upper-Intermediate level).
It is a computer or paper-based test consisting of four papers (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and takes about 3.5 hours.
There are three Cambridge terms each year with examinations in March, June and December.
Scots English College’s Cambridge First (FCE) Preparation Course prepares students who wish to sit the Cambridge First Certificate in English.

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), also known as the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), is accepted by more than 6,000 educational institutions, businesses and government departments around the world as proof of high-level achievement in learning English. Preparing for Cambridge English: Advanced helps learners develop the skills to make the most of studying, working and living in English-speaking countries.
CAE is suitable for students with CEFR level – C1 (Advanced level).
It is a computer or paper-based test consisting of four papers (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and takes about 4 hours.
There are three Cambridge terms each year with examinations in March, June and December.
Scots English College’s Cambridge Advanced (CAE) Preparation Course prepares students who wish to sit the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).
