      Formal English – The pathway to Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees in English

      The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program familiarises students with English-medium academic conventions and develops skills specific to an academic environment. The EAP program prepares students for the transition from studying in their native language and home country to studying in English at an Australian University or College. The EAP program teaches students to consider texts, discourses and issues in a critical light and supports them in becoming independent learners.

      The EAP program is offered at three levels: Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced. Students undertake weekly assessments in relation to the course material they have studied.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum entry requirement for EAP is IELTS Band 5.0 or PTE Academic Score 36.

HOW TO GET TO DISCOVER ENGLISH

Discover English is surrounded by excellent public transport; we are two blocks from the two main train stations, Flinders Station and Melbourne Central Station. Trams and bus stops are also easy to access. For current public transport timetables and Myki ticket information visit http://ptv.vic.gov.au/

Bus

Most buses in the City stop on Lonsdale Street. Routes 200,201, 203, 207, 250, 251, 253, 302, 303, 305, 309, 318, 905 and 908. From Lonsdale Street walk towards Elizabeth Street and then down to Collins Street for about 10 minutes. Turn left on Collins Street, walk a few metres and on your right-hand side, you will see Discover English.

Tram

From routes 19 (North Coburg), 57 (Airport West) and 59 (West Maribyrnong) on Elizabeth Street get off Collins Street and walk up Collins Street for a few metres on the left side. You will see Discover English on your right-hand side.

From routes 112 (West Preston, St Kilda) and 109 ( Box Hill – Port Melbourne) on Collins Street get off on Collins Street stop and walk towards Flinders Lane for about 1 minutes. You will see Discover English almost in front of the tram stop.

For routes 3/3a, 5,6,16,64,67 and 72, get off on Town Hall stop and turn left towards Collins Street. Walk down for about 2 minutes and you will see Discover English on the left side.
