Develop your career in marine craft construction with this intermediate-level course. You will learn a broad range of practical skills and technical knowledge across a variety of vessels, enabling you to work as a boat builder and repairer.

This course provides the skills required to perform a range of marine craft construction tasks. You will learn about occupational health and safety, trade drawing and lofting, material science, composite, and timber construction. You will also study the repair and maintenance procedures associated with various construction methods. You will receive hands-on training delivered by our industry-experienced teachers in workshops equipped with the latest in marine technology.
Upon completion of this course you will be qualified to produce templates and patterns from full size detail drawings, conduct fit-outs and carry out repairs to wooden, fibreglass and composite marine craft. If completed as part of an apprenticeship this course will also allow you to apply for a trade qualification.

The following Selection criteria requirements apply only to International Students:
- English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other – View a list of all English Language tests accepted by TAFE Queensland International
- Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 10 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion. View the international education achievement levels equivalent to Year 10 and 12.
Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. To study an apprenticeship or traineeship program you must be indentured as an apprentice or trainee with your employer.
Employers need to be able to provide the necessary human and physical resources to qualify for an apprentice.
In most situations, to study in Australia, you will need to apply for student visa. But do not worry we can help you with that too. Our consultants are registered PIER educational consultants, and some are registered migration agents.
Requirements for student visa are:
- enrol with an Australian education provider as a full-time student, and obtain written confirmation of this enrolment (predominantly
