To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must meet:

English Language Entry Requirements

There is a minimum level of English language skills that are required to study at TAFE Queensland for international students who do not speak English as their first language which is as follows:

Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma* and Advanced Diploma:

• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: Overall 5.5 (with no score lower than 5.0)

Associate degree level programs:

• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: Overall 6.0 (Writing 6.0, all other skills no less than 5.5)

Bachelor level programs:

• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: Overall 6.5 (with no score lower than 6.0)

* Please note: many programs and some passport nationalities may require higher IELTS (Academic) than the minimum of IELTS 5.5 and/or include specific sub-score requirements.

Academic Entry Requirements

To ensure your academic success at TAFE Queensland, there is a minimum level of academic proficiency you need to achieve before enrolling in our courses. You will be required to prove that you meet the minimum academic requirements in your application.

The entry requirements for all our certificate III level courses is an Australian Year 10 qualification or equivalent. Entry to our certificate IV, diploma and advanced diploma courses requires a Year 12 qualification or equivalent.

The following table outlines the international education achievement levels that are equivalent to a Year 10 or 12 qualification in Queensland, Australia.

Important dates

Applying to schools is free and non-binding. Our consultants will prepare your application for the course you are interested in. We will only ask you to provide information and documents.

Australian School Calendar. The school year in Australia goes from late January until mid-December. It is divided into two half-year periods (semesters) with two terms each. Each term is approximately 10 weeks in duration.

Main intake is in January/February

Mid term Intake is in July.

Long school holidays are in December/January.
